The cooperative Mivor, which produces and commercialises fresh and preserved fruit and vegetables, and packages 80 thousand tonnes of apples a year, optimises and speeds up its warehouse processes thanks to solutions implemented by CLS

Mivor, Cooperativa Frutticoltori Mivo-Ortler Società Agricola, has chosen CLS as its ideal partner for supporting the company objectives through the automation and optimisation of its production processes. Thanks to consulting by CLS and the provision of tailor-made solutions centred on AMR Agilox, the company has sped up its internal processes and has succeeded in combining the automatic warehouse with emptying lines.

Headquartered in Laces, a town near Bolzano, Mivor is a renowned agri-food company that specialises in wholesale commercialisation of fresh or preserved fruit and vegetables. The cooperative has around 300 associates that produce between 70 and 80 thousand tonnes of apples a year. The core business revolves around apple packaging for Italian and international customers, which relies on a cutting-edge facility with a high level of automation.

In the initial design phase of the new packaging room, Mivor was looking for an effective solution that could be used to combine the automatic warehouse with the emptying lines.

The adoption of the Agilox solution implemented by CLS enabled the company to reduce the limitations for horizontal handling and access the other production lines at any time. Moreover, this solution helped to avoid interruptions in the production process, while optimising times and costs.

“Reaping the fruits” of efficiency and productivity

Prior to the adoption of the Agilox solution, a couple of forklift operators were required for the procurement phase and for managing the goods collection/picking missions. Thanks to the solutions implemented by CLS, these tasks are now carried out by the Agilox machines, so the forklift operator can work near the exit and manage finished and packaged pallets, acting as a driver and palletiser.

“When a line operator reported that a machine was having an overload problem, thanks to the CLS solution I was able to directly access the machine via smartphone to solve the problem, so the cycle could continue without any interruptions,” commented Roland Staffler, the Production Manager of Mivor.
